BRIDGING FLAG CEREMONY - OPENING 

All Girl Scouts waiting at the doors to enter – Girl #1 at the front. 

Girl #1

“Will the audience please rise” (wait for audience to rise)

“Girl Scouts advance” (wait for girls to stop).

“Girl Scouts present the colors” (wait for US and troop flags to be placed).

“Girl Scouts present the opening” 

Girl #2 (go to stool and light the red candle)

“The red of my flag represents the lifeblood of the brave men and women, ready to die, or worthy to live, for this our country.” 

Girl #3 (go to stool and light the white candle)

“The white of my flag stands for purity; cleanliness of purpose, thought, word and deed.” 

Girl #4 (go to stool and light the blue candle)

“The blue of my flag stands for faith and loyalty, like the eternal blue of the star filled heavens.” 

Girl #5 (go to flag and hold out the flag)

“Our flag, the flag of America, home of liberty, land of opportunity, where people of all creeds and races strive to live in peace and friendship together.” 

Girl #6

“Please join us in the Pledge of Allegiance”.

“I pledge allegiance to the flag...” 

(When Pledge is finished) “Girl Scouts dismissed”

(When girls are in back of room) “The audience may be seated." 

Girl #6 then goes to back of room with other girls 

Girls quietly return to sit on the floor in the front of the room with the rest of the troop.


BRIDGING FLAG CEREMONY 

MATERIALS PROVIDED:

Three candles, one each, red, white, blue

Candle holders

American flag and stand

Red sashes 

Five girls needed

 

CEREMONY:

At the front of the room have three lit candles (red, white, blue). Right beside the candles, have an American flag in a prominent position. 

CLOSING:

Candles are still lit from opening. Four girls at the back of the room - Caller at the front. 

Caller:

"Will the audience please rise.” (wait for audience to stand)

 “Girl Scouts advance." 

Girl Scout 1:(Blow out blue candle)

"As I blow out the blue candle representing loyalty, may we always remember that a Girl Scout is loyal and a friend to all." 

Girl Scout 2:(Blow out white candle)

"As I blow out the white candle representing purity, may we remember that our duty as a Girl Scout is to be clean in thought, word and deed." 

Girl Scout 3:(Blow out red candle)

"As I blow out the red candle, let us remember to always be brave, to stand up for what is right and just." 

Girl Scout 4:

“Please join us in the Girl Scout Promise.”

“On my honor, I will try to serve God and my country

To help people at all times

and to live by the Girl Scout law.” 

Caller:

"Girl Scouts retire the colors." (wait for girls to get to back of room)

“Audience may be seated”
