Troop 2321 Bronze Award - August 2002-July 2003

Bronze Award Requirements:

  1. Earn 2 badges that are related to the project that will be done for the Bronze Award
  2. Complete one of the Girl Scout Signs
  3. Earn the Junior Aide Patch OR the Junior GS Leadership Award
  4. Do a service project that:
  5. * Takes approximately 15 hours to compete (8 hours of project, 7 of planning)                                    * Provides community service                                                                                                                                  * Follows an action plan

Our Plan:   

1.  Earn the Sew Simple Badge 

2.  Make & donate "Cancer caps" and socks to a local hospital for children undergoing treatment for cancer.

3.  Earn the Walking for Fitness Badge

4.  Participate in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

5.  Earn Sign of the Star

6.  Earn the Junior Aide Patch by working with Brownie Troop 660 to help them bridge to Junior Girl Scouts.

What We Did:

  1. Completed the Sign of the Star at an Aug 2002 overnight at Camp Sacajawea with Troop 660. We had an "outer beauty" session in the evening (activities from the Looking Your Best badge), and an "inner beauty" session in the morning (activities from "Girls Are Great" and "It's Great to be a Girl" in the Jr. handbook)
  2. Earned the Sew Simple Badge on January 11, 2003 at JoAnn Fabrics.
  3. Completed cross stitch on socks in meetings & at home (socks donated along with cancer caps to a local hospital)
  4. Sewed fleece cancer caps in meetings (Jan & Feb. 2003)
  5. Distributed Relay for Life team recruiting posters to Eagan churches & businesses (Jan-Feb. 2003)
  6. Earned the Walking for Fitness badge: (1 1/2 hrs. April, 2003, walk at relay July 25, plus activities at home in summer)
  7. Prepared 500 luminaria bags for Relay for Life (1 1/2 hrs. April 22, 2003)
  8. Decorated luminaria bags to be distributed at Relay for Life booth at July 4th Fun Fest in Eagan (1 1/2 hrs. May 2003)
  9. Filled luminaria bags with sand & candles and placed them around track at Eagan HS (4 hrs -July 25, 2003). Participated in the opening and luminaria lighting ceremonies.
