STEPS FOR SETTING UP TROOP ACCOUNTS
1. Attend Orientation Training where you will receive your troop number, troop kit and Service Unit Team Roster.
2. Hold a parent meeting as suggested in your Orientation Guide and collect troop dues from parents. For other resources to cover troop expenses, check with your service team or Membership Manager/Coordinator.
3. Refer to your Resource Guide, Bank Accounts and Annual Reports for general information about setting up your account.
4. Your Service Unit Treasurer can assist you and provide information about local banks who will work with troop accounts. Contact your bank of choice about their procedures and requirements for a troop account.
5. You are required to have three adults as signers on the account. Two of the signers are the leader(s), co-leader(s), assistant leader(s) or troop treasurer and one signer is a Service Team member, preferably the Service Unit Treasurer or Service Unit Manager. Some banks will require all signers to be present with identification to place signatures on the bank card.
6. You must provide the bank with the councils Federal ID number which is: new # coming
7. If you encounter a requirement from a bank for authorization from the Girl Scout Council to set up an account, please contact Janis Reidlinger at 651-251-1245 or your Membership Manager/Coordinator.
8. Your account will need the address of the person to whom the bank statements will be mailed. Checks should not have a personal address, but should be imprinted as follows:

(This allows for changes in leadership or treasurers without having to re-order checks)
9. Fill out troop account information on Council form 876, Troop/Group Bank Account Record and give 2 copies to Service Unit Treasurer or Manager. This form can be located in of your Resource Guide (please copy) or downloaded from our website at www.girlscoutscv.org. Click on Volunteers and then Forms. This form needs to be filled out EVERY YEAR and turned in by November 15th. This information also needs to be provided on the Troop/Group Finance Report that must be completed and turned in to the Service Unit Manager or Treasurer by June 15 EVERY YEAR or May 15 for SuperTroop.
*Cautionary note: when reimbursing a signer for expenses, have another signer on the account sign the check.
